PRAHLAD’S INSTRUCTION TO DEMON BOYS

O demon boys, all living beings (including corporeal human beings) are attracted by various kinds of earthly contentments owing to contact of their material sense-organs, to get fivefold gratification of sense perceptions viz. sound, touch, beauty, taste and smell. It is true all conditioned souls always try to get non-eternal material pleasures. Prahlad Maharaj may ask the demon boys— ‘Does anyone of you want suffering?’ The answer will be ‘nobody wants suffering’. But all conditioned souls are to reap the fruits of their own previous good and bad deeds. Every living being is preordained to get good and bad fruits. Attaining this precious human birth, one should not be enthusiastic to enjoy ease and comforts. It is not proper to ruin this human birth by spoiling his valuable time for worldly interests and sensual pleasures. By dedicating one’s life completely for the service of the Lotus-Feet of Sree ‘Mukunda’— All-Blissful Supreme Lord Sree Krishna, you will get the highest eternal welfare. —Gurudeva Srila

 

MY DEVOTIONAL PRACTICE

In the place of true devotions to Lord Krishna, presently only a jumble of self-concocted practices exist. My priority is now to serve my senses and after or during the course of my selfish pursuits, if some little service can be done for the sake of devotion or the devotees then I am not grudging.

I had always very much revered and loved my spiritual master. Now, by the burning urge to satisfy my senses, many a time, I think him a stumbling block to my devious ends, for my mind has taken a different turn. I could not confidentially relate to him anymore, even though some reverence to him was still there. I could not perceive him as my well wisher and saviour anymore. Further more, if I did attempt to follow his instructions then that would warrant having to give up my whimsical nature. Thus, originally though having resolved to practice devotion to Lord Krishna, I had slowly come to forget this aspiration. My spiritual practices existed now only outwardly in name.

The Divine Name

God has appeared as His Name. All strength has been given to His Name to rescue the fallen souls of this kaliyuga. 


You have to accept the instructions of the Supreme Lord.


 Sri Krishna, in the mood of Srimati Radharani, appeared as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and preached that by means of Sri nama sankirtana, we can obtain krishna-prema. 


We have been born into this kali-yuga. Unlike the other previous yugas - satya, treta and dvapara - there are three kinds of adharmas in this era: a lack of tapah (austerity),saucam (cleanliness) and daya (mercy).


 Only one dharma remains: satyam (truthfulness). Satyam is the Holy Name. Yet, we can easily get Krishna in this kali-yuga because the Lord has graced the fallen souls of this era and given them the easiest way.

Do you know why Srila Gurudeva made me an Acharya?

He thought, "He has so many faults. He cannot be rescued unless he serves the vaisnavas. If I make him acarya, he will have to take care of all the vaisnavas, he will have to serve the vaisnavas, and in this way he will be rescued." Thinking like this, Srila Gurudeva appointed me acarya. In our system, becoming President or Math-in-charge does not mean becoming the master of the organization. I was appointed acarya so that I may serve Gurudeva's dependents. I have become acarya; this does not mean that I have become a big person, a worshipable person, and everybody should serve me. Such thinking will open the door to hell."
