¿Cambiando los libros de Srila Prabhupada?
A principios de los 1980s Jayadvaita Swami empezó a reeditar este libro y varios más del Bhaktivedanta Book Trust. Srila Prabhupada nunca dio autorización para efectuar dichas reediciones. Sin embargo, era la época de los 11 Acharyas arrogantes, y se sintieron con el derecho de tomar la obra de Srila Prabhupada y "mejorarla".
Jayadvaita defiende a capa y espada el trabajo que hizo. Y la defensa la hace prácticamente solo, porque quienes lo impulsaron originalmente a profanar la obra de Srila Prabhupada ya se blupearon y/o murieron: Ramesvara, Jayatirtha, Tamal Krishna y Bhagavan.

¿Quién Está Cambiando Los Libros de Srila Prabhupada?

Jayadvaita Swami tomó la iniciativa por determinación propia de “revisar, corregir y aumentar” los libros de Srila Prabhupada. La GBC nunca fue consultada, pero lo dejó continuar.
En el 2006 Jayadvaita quería que se imprimieran en minúsculas los pronombres personales y posesivos refiriéndose a Sri Krishna, a Sus expansiones, a Simati Radharani y al Señor Balarama, tanto en las publicaciones de los libros de Srila Prabhupada como en la revista BTG –De Vuelta al Supremo. De hecho ya había empezado a hacer tales cambios en la revista BTG, de esa manera se dieron cuenta los devotos, lo que inició una polémica para revertir esa acción de Jayadvaita.
Según Jayadvaita esta política era para hacer nuestra literatura aceptable a los círculos eruditos, sin embargo ni siquiera pensó que los Profesores PHDs –Profesores eruditos con doctorados en diferentes círculos universitarios, ya habían dado sus propias reseñas favorables y con mucho respeto a Srila Prabhupada. Por lo tanto la conclusión de Jayadvaita es muy boba.
Pero Jayadvaita da un paso más, en falso, llegando a la ofensa. Él usó el mismo argumento que otros tontos que han querido restar autoridad a Srila Prabhupada, diciendo que podría ser una decisión circunstancial y no definitiva.
“…Aunque naturalmente le concedemos a Srila Prabhupada ser el ejemplo en muchas aéreas, necesitamos preguntarnos si los acuerdos tipográficos es una de ellas. Y ya que la conversación de 1969 acerca de los pronombres fue corta, necesitamos preguntarnos si debemos considerarla una instrucción definitiva o un comentario circunstancial”.
Que estupidez, ¿y él está editando los libros de Srila Prabhupada?

En la actualidad muchos eruditos, dentro y fuera de la India, han adoptados los estándares establecidos por Srila Prabhupada en la redacción de traducciones de la obra literaria de los Vedas, expresiones tales como: Krishna la Suprema Personalidad de Dios, y el uso de mayúsculas para Sus pronombres personales y posesivos respectivos.
Hayagriva: Bueno, yo considero que al referirnos a Krishna, siempre debemos usar 'E' mayúscula. [Él, en vez de él.]
Prabhupada: Especialmente. Sí. Especialmente para Krishna, tú puedes [usarlos].
Hayagriva: Y en el caso de Radha, 'E' mayúscula. [Ella, en vez de ella.]
Prabhupada: Pero Balarama no es diferente de Krishna.
Satsvarupa: Entonces también lleva 'E' mayúscula.
Hayagriva: Entonces 'Él' es con 'E' mayúscula. Pero entonces, vamos a empezar.
Prabhupada: No, no. Hay que limitarlo a estos tres casos. Eso será suficiente.

Hay que recordar que Hayagriva fue uno de los primeros editores y que era profesor universitario de Literatura Inglesa. En cambio Jayadvaita no alcanza esa calificación.
El "Manual del Estilo" de la University of Chicago Press

Jayadvaita se refugió, por así decirlo, en la publicación de la Universidad de Chicago, El Manual del Estilo de esa universidad. Este manual se puede consultar por internet.
Jayadvaita dice: “Chicago escribe con minúsculas esos pronombres…”
Pero no es el criterio definitivo. La siguiente es una cita de dicho manual:
Pregunta: ¿Cuál es la forma apropiada del pronombre para usarse al referirnos a Dios? Me enseñaron que el pronombre “Él” se escribe con mayúscula cuando se refiere a “Dios”. Sin embargo, busqué en varios manuales de gramática y no pude encontrar ninguna información sobre este tema. ¿Han cambiado las reglas? [Antecedent:Gram. the word, phrase, or clause to which a pronoun refers].
Respuesta: Chicago escribe con minúscula esos pronombres, pero no es incorrecto escribirlos con mayúsculas, especialmente si se está escribiendo para un público lector religioso o cualquier otro que pueda tomar el escribirlos con minúsculas como una señal de falta de respeto. En asuntos de estilo, en contraste con los de gramática, hay pocas respuestas de lo que es correcto y lo que no lo es. Diferentes casas editoriales siguen diferentes patrones de estilo a fin de hacer sus publicaciones consistentes.

First Days in Shimla

With half the books we started with, we packed up and moved on to Shimla. When we were in Haridwar for Kumbha mela we met one family from Shimla. They invited us to stay with them. For weeks I have been talking to the mother and her three teenaged girls on the phone. The youngest daughter named Sakshi had her birthday on May 28. I promised we would be there for the party. We arrived on the evening so we could be rested for the party.
I wish I had more birthday parties in this style growing up. Family, neighbors and friends came for bhajans. Of course they sing bhajans to many of the demigods. In the mountain region they mostly devotees of Lord Siva and his shakti, but because since we were there they felt inspired to sing many hindi bhajans about Sri Sri Radha and Krsna. We lead some bhajans and maha mantra. Actually when we switched to Radha Krsna bhajans a huge wind came up, dust was blowing everywhere, the power went out, the altar they made for Lord Siva fell, rain started, and lighting came. About half the people went downstairs (we were signing on the roof) but for those stayed it was quite and experience. We just kept signing and signing, absorbed in the bhajans despite everything.

The next day we went with the three girls of the family and their cousin to the Mall. The Mall was built by the British, it’s a beautiful area to walk along the top of the hill in Shimla. Many tourists and locals are roaming through out the Mall.

Not only did the girls distribute the books, but they ran into some of their friends from school who also helped distribute books. In less than two hours we distributed around 150 books. We gave them all a free book for helping.

Yesterday the family took us to visit their village named Kotkhai and a place called Giri Ganga. We stopped a few places along the way to meet many family and friends. Then we had to hire a truck to drive the last steep rocky narrow track to Giri Ganga. Durvas Rsi had Ganga in a kamandalu. He sat way up on this mountain to meditate, then a bird came which knocked the kamandalu over. Since then Ganga devi has flowed out of this mountain.


On the way home, we stopped for dinner at their aunties home. Actually I met her also in Haridwar with the rest of the family. She and her husband visit Vrndavana form time to time and they are Krsna bhaktas. After sampling the local preparation called sidu (a steamed stuffed bread roll), we sang bhajans together. We sang “Jaya Radha, Jaya Krsna, Jaya Vrndavan” and explained how this song reminds us of Vraja Mandal parikrama and what parikram is like. We invited them to come for parikrama and they said they would. I hope they make it.

Gopi-gita is part of rasa-panca-adhyaya, the five chapters of Srimad-Bhagavatam that relate rasa-lila.
The body has five kinds of life-airs (panca-prana) residing in the heart, and among these five, one is most vital. The twelve cantos of Srimad-Bhagavatam are likened to twelve parts of a body. The Tenth Canto is the heart of that body. Within that heart, the five chapters that constitute rasa-panca-adhyaya are its five life-airs, and among them, Gopi-gita is the foremost.
We begin our discussion of Gopi-gita by remembering the chapter in Srimad-Bhagavatam that describes the gopis’ worship of the goddess Katyayani-devi to attain Krishna as their husband. The first verse of this chapter states:
sri-suka uvaca
hemante prathame masi
nanda-vraja-kamarikah
cerur havisyam bhunjanah
katyayany-arcana-vratam
Srimad-Bhagavatam (10.22.1)
Srila Sukadeva Gosvami said, “During the first month of the winter season, the young, unmarried girls of Gokula observed the vow of worshipping goddess Katyayani. For the entire month they ate only unspiced khichri.”
The gopis who observed the vow to worship Katyayani were young and unmarried. What, then, was Sri Krishna age at this time? Krishna had left Gokula at the age of three and a half. According to Srila Vyasadeva and Srila Sukadeva Gosvami, He was seven years old when He lifted the mountain, Giriraja Govardhana, on the little finger of His left hand. After He lifted Giriraja, all the elders and their priests gathered together and told Nanda Baba, “You should not treat Krishna as if He were your son. He is actually not your son. He may be a demigod, or perhaps He is God, or someone like God. We have heard that Narayana Himself has come in the form of Krishna, and perhaps it is true. So you should not treat Him like an ordinary boy. Do not bind His hands, and do not chastise or punish Him. He is only seven years old, and yet He lifted a mountain like Govardhana. How is that possible? This is indeed mysterious.”
“Oh,” Nanda Baba laughed. “I have heard that gopas only become mature and intelligent at the age of eighty. They cannot properly decide anything before then, because their minds are not fixed. Krishna is just an ordinary boy.
“God has far more good qualities than even the perfected saints. Such saints do not become angry, and they are not disturbed by hunger, thirst, or any other material distress. They do not steal or tell lies.
“Krishna tells lies. He weeps and becomes angry. He plays tricks on people, and He is naughty in so many other ways. He sometimes cries for butter and sugar candy. If He does not get what He wants, He becomes furious and hurls all the items in our home onto the ground, and then scatters them here and there.
“This is conclusive proof that He is not God. In any case, even if you would insist that He is God, He is still my son, so I will admonish and punish Him and treat Him as a father should treat his child.”
Nanda Baba continued to laugh at the notion that Krishna is God; then Yogamaya came, and by her influence, everyone present forgot this idea.
This incident took place during the month of Kartika, when Sri Krishna was seven years old, and it was just after Kartika that the gopis worshiped Katyayani.

This celebrated Sanskrit classic of India reveals the purpose of human life and the nature of pure spiritual love. Its divine poetry was originally sung by the young cowherd-maidens (gopis) of Vraja to their beloved Sri Krishna, God Himself, while searching for Him in the autumn moonlight on the banks of the sacred river Yamuna. Concealing Himself from their sight, He listened in adoration and wonder to their expression of amorous love for Him.
